What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, management and prevention of musculoskeletal and other related disorders.
The training of Osteopaths is undertaken to degree level and now follows an intense four or five year degree course, combining not only academic but clinical “hands on” work too. The Osteopathic qualifications involve: anatomy, physiology, neurology, orthopaedics and biomechanics as well as at least 1,000 hours of clinical training.Examination, diagnosis and treatment
Initially you will be asked some question about you injury/problem, the history, your health, lifestyle and medication. This will give us a good picture of your condition. Osteopaths utilize many diagnostic procedures used in conventional medicine to examine and diagnose your condition. Additional to this, osteopathic diagnostic techniques are unique and include a postural static assessment and simple mobility testing; this assesses how your whole body relates mechanically to your injury/problem. Occasionally we use X-rays and MRI imaging. Following your diagnosis we will discuss what we have found and discuss a treatment plan tailored for you. The treatment is very much hands on and involves often a variation of techniques whether soft tissue, articulation or specific spinal manipulation. Treatment us usually pain free and often involves, self help, exercise and advice on posture. If we are unsure or concerned with your presenting symptoms we will advise you to see your GP and provide you with a letter. Our high quality and care

‘I had suffered all my life with back pain until I was found to have a slight short leg. A few treatments and a wedge in my shoe and I am completely pain free.’
